Buffy Wicks Meets with Piedmont Community Leaders
BERKELEY, CA, MAY 10th– Colleen Gallagher, Deborah Dinerman, Chad Olcott and Laura Pochop hosted local California State Assembly candidate Buffy Wicks for a meet-and-greet event at Mulberry’s Home store on Piedmont Avenue. Wicks is running to represent District 15 which includes Piedmont, parts of Oakland, Emeryville, Berkeley, Albany, Kensington, El Cerrito, San Pablo, Richmond, Pinole and Hercules.
The meet-and-greet house party a signature of the Buffy Wicks campaign and marked the 139th event since the campaign’s launch in May 2017. The house party program focuses on neighbors talking to neighbors about their political and community concerns and offers a chance for voters hear Buffy’s story and ‘kick the tires’ on her policy plans for the Legislature. The program has generated a substantial volunteer base with over 500 locals signed up to help spread the word about Buffy’s candidacy. The evening’s discussion focused on local education funding, tackling the homelessness crisis and how Piedmonters can do their party to resist Trump.
Buffy Wicks is a grassroots organizer with decades of experience mobilizing people to get things done on the issues they care about. She organized against the 2003 Iraq War, fought for better health care and higher wages for Walmart workers, and developed the grassroots organizing model that propelled Barack Obama into the White House. While working for President Obama in the White House, Buffy organized progressive constituencies to help pass major legislation including the Affordable Care Act. She is running on a progressive platform with a focus on real results. Buffy is ready to get to work for our community tackling our housing crisis and homelessness, ensuring all Californians have quality and affordable health care, improving our public education systems, protecting and expanding California’s climate change goals and making California the most family-friendly state in the nation.
