Help Buffy reform Prop 13

Aug 22, 2018 | Blog

This morning I was excited to join the Schools and Communities Firstcoalition to celebrate their successful submission of 860,000 signatures to qualify Prop 13 commercial property tax reform for the 2020 ballot! Closing this loophole will add over $11 billion a year to go towards our public schools.

When Prop 13 passed, California public schools were rated near the best in the country. Since then, California has seen our school rankings drop near the bottom in the county. It’s time for the Chevrons and Disneys in our state to pay their fair share, like they would in any other state. California has the biggest, most vibrant economy in the country – it’s time we fund our schools accordingly.

Thanks to EvolveTechEquity CollaborativeCommon Sense Kids Action, @Oakland Rising, the League of Women Voters Berkeley Albany Emeryville, and all the organizations who worked to make this happen! #Prop13 #ReformProp13
