Marching for immigrant families

Jul 2, 2018 | Blog

Today I joined those demonstrating at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond — where ICE is holding immigrants facing deportation. When you see what’s happening right now in this country – when you see the inhumane policies being pursued by this administration – it is so heart-breaking. I can’t even imagine what I would go through if I had my daughter JoJo taken away from me.

But I do have hope. I have hope because people are showing up and taking action to make sure our community, state, and country are going to be a better place tomorrow. I know that in 10, 20, 30 years from now we are going to look back at this time and ask “What did you do then?” And we can all say that we stepped up to the call, pushed back against Trump, and stood up for what’s right and just and compassionate.#FamiliesBelongTogether
