BERKELEY, CA, MAY 25TH– The Buffy Wicks for Assembly campaign is proud to announce the endorsement of former Congressman and Richmond-native George Miller.

“I am proud to endorse Buffy Wicks for Assembly District 15. Buffy will be a smart, hard working, and thoughtful representative who can work with wide range of stakeholders to get real results on issues we care about most. She will champion progressive policies that level the playing the field for working families – more funding for public education, stronger labor protections for workers and affordable housing for all our communities,” said Miller today.

Congressman Miller represented the East Bay in the US house of Representatives for 40 years in both the 7th and 11th Districts. During that time, he was a tremendous labor advocate and progressive champion, serving as a member of the House Natural Resources Committee and the Chairman of the House  Education and Labor Committee.

“I am honored to earn the endorsement of Congressman George Miller,” says Wicks.  “He is a stalwart supporter of organized labor and worker protections, making his support particularly significant to me.  In the East Bay, we are united behind a progressive agenda. I am ready to turn our ideas into policy and pass legislation that will improve people’s lives. I will continue to build coalitions from Oakland to Hercules and fight for and with our communities to give families across the district the best future possible.”

Congressman Miller’s endorsement builds on an impressive list of local and regional support, including U.S. Senator Kamala Harris, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, Congressman Ro Khanna, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, State Senator Scott Wiener, Assemblymember David Chiu, Assemblymember Bill Quirk, Assemblymember Jose Medina, Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo, Richmond Mayor Tom Butt, Hercules City Council Member Mayor Myrna de Vera, Piedmont City Council Members Teddy King and Jen Cavanaugh, BART Board Director Lateefah Simon, Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly, Howard Dean and the East Bay Times and East Bay Express newspapers.
